Over 500 horsepower for the new top-of-the-range CayenneCayenne Turbo S, the New Top End Model in the Cayenne Family
Shanghai, 8 January 2006 – Porsche recently unveiled the latest version of the new Cayenne Turbo S. This new top-of-the-range model in the Cayenne series is the second most powerful road vehicle ever built by Porsche, only the Carrera GT has more horsepower under the hood. The Cayenne Turbo S will be launched in China at the beginning of April 2006, and forms an important addition to the Cayenne series.
The introduction of the Cayenne Turbo S further strengthens the image of the Porsche Cayenne family (other members being the Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo) as a line of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) with strong sports car characteristics. Even before the launch of the Cayenne Turbo S, the Cayenne family already outperformed all competition in the SUV class in terms of engine power, acceleration and road handling. With the new top-of-the-range model, the Cayenne once again sets a new standard in the SUV category, this time with sheer power that provides the ultimate dynamic experience in this hugely popular segment.
The 4.5-litre V8 bi-turbo engine featured in the Cayenne Turbo S has been equipped with two upgraded intercoolers with an even higher level of efficiency and modified engine management, reaching 521 bhp at 5500 rpm, an amazing 71 bhp above that of the Cayenne Turbo. This extra power and torque naturally means even better performance on the road, and the Cayenne Turbo S now accelerates from 0–100 km/h in a staggering 5.2 seconds, all the way to a commanding top speed of 270 km/h. To match the superior performance, Cayenne Turbo S comes with an upgraded brake system featuring even larger brake discs increased in diameter from 350 to 380 millimetres at the front and 330 to 358 millimetres at the rear.
Full time four-wheel drive guarantees optimum transfer of power through a six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. Among other features standard for the Cayenne Turbo S in China are privacy glass and electronically controlled sunroof, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) module with active handset, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel in leather and a four zone air-conditioning system to assure that all parts of the car have the same temperature.
The design of the new model is very discreet, but on closer inspection, the unique position is still evident. Twenty-inch lightweight aluminium wheels as standard, exhaust tailpipes in four-pipe look and paintwork in Navy Blue Metallic are all exclusive to this top-of-the-range model. The Cayenne Turbo S lettering on the tailgate, the entrance strips and the centre console also highlight that this is the new top model of the Cayenne series.
Mr. Mark Bishop, Managing Director of Porsche China – Jebsen & Co (China) Motors Ltd.said: “The Cayenne is our most important model line in China, and the new Cayenne Turbo S is a supreme top-of-the-range addition to this line of cars aimed at people satisfied only with the best. I feel that there is great anticipation for the Cayenne Turbo S among Porsche fans in China, and even before the official announcement we have customers on the waiting list for this model”
The basic price for the Cayenne Turbo S will be 1,580,000 Chinese Yuan. Pre-orders are already being accepted at Porsche dealers across China.
