On your marks, get set – click! Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has sought and found the best photo of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. In cooperation with the world-leading independent lens manufacturer Sigma, Porsche ran the 2008 Sigma-Supercup Photo Competition. At each race weekend, the most unusual photograph highlighting the world's fastest international one-make series was awarded. The “Supercup Photo of the Year” was won by the motorsport photographer Andreas Beil (Germany). The 39-year-old has worked in Formula 1 for the last eleven years.

At the final round of the Supercup, the 30 entered drivers chose Beil's picture with a six-vote lead over the second place-getter. A total of twelve drivers voted for the photo with the title “Airborne” which was taken at the sixth round in Magny-Cours (France) with a shutter speed of 1/2000 seconds and aperture 8. It shows the Italian Alessandro Zampedri with just one wheel of his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup touching the surface.

On the following places were the pictures of motorsport photographers Charles Coates (6 votes), Thomas Lam (6), Peter Nygaard (4) and Daniel Reinhard (2). It pays to focus on Porsche. As the main prize for the “Supercup Photo of the Year”, Beil received the brand-new Sigma lens 200-500mm F2.8 APO EX DG worth around 25,000 Euro.
