Porsche hits its targets with new record in North AmericaSports cars break new sales records in July as well
Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has broken another sales record in North America, its most important sales market. With 36,669 vehicles delivered, unit sales in the completed fiscal year 2005/06 (July 31) outperformed the previous year's figure of 33,974 units by seven percent.
Growth in the US and Canada was driven by the sports car model series. Sales of the 911 increased by 18 percent to 12,534 vehicles. The Boxster model series accelerated by 65 percent to 10,701 vehicles, including 4,591 units of the Cayman S. The sporty all-terrain Cayenne sold 13,217 vehicles, a decline of 27 percent compared to fiscal year 2004/05. As Porsche does not boost its sales with plant discounts, this development is in line with lifecycle planning.
In July 2006, the last month of fiscal year 2005/06, Porsche also broke a new record: deliveries of 3,335 vehicles marks the best July figure for North America in the history of the Company. The growth as against the previous year's figure amounts to twelve percent. The 911 also turned in a considerable increase with deliveries in July rising by 46 percent to 1,155 vehicles. Unit sales for the Boxster model series increased by 34 percent to 1,214 vehicles, including 650 units of the Cayman S. With 949 vehicles sold (down 23 percent as against July 2005), the Cayenne's performance was consistent with the levels it has stayed close to over the last few months.
