Porsche Intelligent Performance is demonstrated once again with the new Panamera Diesel: With an NEDC fuel consumption figure of just 6.5L/100 kms it comfortably betters the Federal Government’s “green” target of 7.0 L/100 kms.
Luxury Car Tax (LCT) for the Panamera Diesel is therefore calculated from $75,375 and not the standard $57,466 threshold, resulting in a $5,300 benefit for customers which is reflected in the Panamera Diesel’s price of $194,900.
Further good news is the Panamera Diesel can be driven between Australia’s two largest cities on just one tank of fuel with a theoretical range in excess of 1,200 kms.
Porsche’s new addition to its gran turismo ranks also offers smooth performance from its 3.0-litre engine with 550 Nm of torque available from 1,750 rpm to 2,750 rpm and 184 kW between 3,800 rpm and 4,400 rpm. Married to the highly efficient eight-speed Tiptronic S, the six-cylinder turbo diesel powers the rear-drive GT from a standing start to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 242 km/h.
The diesel engine features state-of-the-art technology: Common rail direct injection through piezo valves at a pressure of 2000 bar, turbocharging employing electrically controlled variable geometry turbochargers (VGTs) and emission control achieved by controlled exhaust gas recirculation, oxidation catalyst and particle filter. This is how high performance, generous torque and low consumption find themselves accompanied by smooth running, reliability and low emissions. An additional contributing factor is the auto start/stop function fitted as standard.
The Panamera Diesel is now on sale in Australia with deliveries to commence from September.
