Australia. The 100,000th Porsche 911 (Type 997 series) has rolled off the company’s main production line in Zuffenhausen, Germany.
Since production of the sixth generation 911 series began in April 2004 it has taken a little over three years for the milestone to be reached.
Since its debut in 1963, never before have so many 911s been built so quickly.
The milestone car, a guards red Carrera S with manual transmission, is to be delivered to a customer in Frankfurt.
The 911 has remained the quintessential sports car for the last four decades, and in its latest 997 series iteration will soon spawn its 16th derivative.
Porsche expects to sell around 36,000 911 cars in its 2006 / 2007 fiscal year which ends on July 31.
