Rennsport returns to Australia in 2016Second edition of Porsche Rennsport Australia confirmed

Australia. The inaugural Porsche Rennsport Australia was a highlight of the 2013 motor racing calendar.

And in 2016, it returns.

The second running of the Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park, expanding to a three day event from April 29 to May 01, 2016.

Headlining the festival will be the annual Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Pro-Am and Porsche’s ‘Rolling Museum’– a selection of iconic race cars that have played a key role in shaping the German sports car brand.

Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia will also race at the Sydney event along with iconic Porsche demonstrations, historic and modern sports car races and Porsche Regularity.

Porsche Rennsport Australia will also retain its comprehensive off-track entertainment, featuring its popular Porschestrasse car display, Concours d’Elegance and Show ‘n’ Shine, Porsche Centre Rennsport pop-up dealership, Kids Zone including Porsche Kids Driving School, corporate hospitality and retail precinct.

The 2013 Porsche Rennsport Australia attracted over 500 Porsches to the Sydney Motorsport Park venue with a two-day crowd of approximately 4,000.

Porsche Cars Australia Managing Director Sam Curtis says the return of Rennsport was inevitable following the success and tremendous feedback from the inaugural event.

“There was never any doubt that we would continue the Rennsport concept in Australia. It is immensely popular in North America and the inaugural Australian event was a resounding success. The popularity – both in participation and attendance – in 2013 along with the incredible feedback thereafter made our decision to repeat the event very easy,” said Mr. Curtis.

Porsche’s vast motor racing heritage and popularity in Australia allows us to hold such events, something that makes us unique in the market. Rennsport is a true celebration of the Porsche brand and its motor racing pedigree – past and present.

“There will be no shortage of on- and off-track entertainment at Porsche Rennsport Australia. Porsche offers two spectacular one-make motor racing championships in Australia which will both be on show, along with some truly iconic race and road cars from the Porsche Museum and many locally based Porsches with important ties to the brand.

Porsche is an ‘experience’ brand and we will certainly live up to this reputation for all who attend Porsche Rennsport Australia in 2016.”

Porsche Rennsport Australia has increased to three days to allow for more track time, especially for the Carrera Cup and GT3 Cup Challenge, and also allow for extended hot lap sessions during Saturday and Sunday.

The line-up of iconic sports cars from the ‘Rolling Museum’ will be confirmed closer to the event, along with the exact line-up of Porsche motor racing categories.
