NSW Police use Porsche for community engagementPolice Porsche Panamera

Porsche Cars Australia (PCA) is expanding its corporate social responsibility programme by providing a Panamera to the NSW Police for community events and activities.

The idea of a Porsche in NSW police decals on the road and at public events is designed to create curiosity and bring people towards the car so that police may engage them on local issues.

The Porsche Panamera will look just like a real NSW police car and be prominent on Sydney roads and at police promotional displays, but it will not be used to chase crooks.

Porsche has a strong community spirit and we are proud to work with the NSW Police on this initiative,” says Porsche Cars Australia Managing Director, Michael Winkler.

“This is the first time we’ve made available a Porsche to any police force in Australia and the curiosity factor alone of a Panamera in police decals should help the NSW Police achieve awareness and engage people in its community programmes.”

Porsche has made available a white Panamera sedan for an initial six month period, with an option for a further six months should the NSW Police see further benefit.
“The thinking behind the concept is community engagement,” says Superintendent Alan Sicard of the NSW Police.  “The use of a Porsche at community events, fairs and programmes will act as an ice breaker in talking to younger members of the public; in particular whose dealings or perception of the police are often generally negative.

“The Porsche gives us a chance to talk to kids on an informal basis outside the legal system in the hope that we can influence them and help them make a positive contribution to society.”

The Harbourside Local area Command Crime Management Unit in Sydney’s north will be responsible for the Porsche police car.

Corporate social responsibility is an important part of Porsche’s public profile both locally and overseas.

In its home German market Porsche is active with corporate social responsibility activities in areas of education, the arts, history and the environment; while in Australia Porsche promotes driver education to children through the Porsche Kids Driving School and is active in addressing youth homelessness through its sponsorship of the Lighthouse Foundation.
