Community engagement Panamera a huge successNSW Police Force continues with Porsche

Porsche Cars Australia (PCA) and the NSW Police Force have jointly elected to continue the Force’s community engagement programme well into 2014.

The trial, which began 12 months ago year when Porsche loaned a Panamera to the NSW Police to use as a means to engage the community, has been so successful both organisations see merit in continuing the programme for a further 12 months – this time with Porsche loaning the latest Panamera 4S, featuring a twin turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine and all-wheel drive.

To signal the renewed co-operation the new Police Panamera has fresh new markings, the result of a NSW Police Force facebook ‘Design a Police Porsche‘ competition which received more than 40,000 hits and 200 entries from around the country.

The new design is bolder and designed to give the Porsche sedan more street cred and presence on the road.

The 12 months of the previous specially marked Police Panamera saw it attend more than 50 community events as well as dozens of primary schools as part of the NSW Police Force’s community engagement strategy.  The car is run and operated out of NSW Police Force’s Harbourside Local Area Command but shared with other Commands.  Costs and maintenance of the car is covered by Porsche.

“The Porsche police car turns heads and generates fascination, which is exactly what it is designed to do so it can allow us to begin dialogue with the community and discuss issues surrounding community welfare,” says NSW Police Force Superintendent Alan Sicard.

“We have a strong presence on social media and to date we’ve had some 700,000 hits on our facebook page directly related to the Porsche”.

For PCA, the association with the NSW Police Force is a key element of its ‘Corporate Social Responsibility‘ strategy where Porsche actively supports carefully selected causes.  PCA’s main CSR activity is with the Lighthouse Foundation – a Victorian based not-for-profit organisation committed to ending youth homelessness.
